What Is Plant Hire Software?

Plant hire software manages the equipment a business puts out on hire: what is on hire and off hire, who has it, where it is, when it is due back and what to invoice. What Is The Difference Between Dry Hire And Wet Hire?

Dry hire means the customer hires the machine on its own and supplies their own operator. Wet hire means the machine comes with an operator supplied by you. They are billed and managed differently, and FleetHire handles both: dry hire tracks the asset and period, while wet hire is managed through the allocations feature where the machine, operator and hours worked are linked on the one record.

Can It Handle Tool Hire As Well As Major Plant?

Yes. FleetHire treats a small tool and a 30-tonne excavator with the same discipline. Every item, whether it is an attachment, a hand tool or a major machine, has a hire status and sits on the same availability board, so you can see and commit your whole hire fleet from one screen rather than juggling separate lists.

How Is This Different From Rental Software Like The Large Overseas Platforms?

TFO Software is built for the Australian market. It uses local terms like plant hire, dry hire and wet hire rather than US ‘rental’ language, and it is supported by an Australian team. The bigger difference is that hire is one module of a full fleet platform, so your hire fleet is tracked, maintained and fuelled in the same system.

Does My Hire Fleet Connect To Maintenance And Tracking?

Yes, and that is the advantage of running it inside TFO Software. A machine flagged for service in FleetMaint will not be offered on hire while it is in the workshop, and a unit fitted with FleetTrack can be located if a customer is unsure where it is. Hire status, service status and location all share one record.

Is This For Hire Companies Or Fleets That Also Hire?

This module is built for fleets that own and run assets and also put some out on hire, so owned and hired gear sit in one system. If you run a hire-first business where hire is the whole operation, the team can point you to the setup built for that, so the platform fits how you actually trade.

Can Hire Invoices Go Into My Accounting System?

Yes. TFO Software has direct integration with Xero, so hire charges and asset costs flow automatically into the system you already run your books on. For Jonas, Baseplan, Viewpoint and VisionLink, data can be exported and imported instead. If you use a different package, ask the team during your trial whether an integration is available.
