What Are Fuel Tax Credits And Who Can Claim Them?

Fuel tax credits are a refund of the excise included in the price of fuel used in eligible business activities, such as running heavy vehicles over 4.5 tonnes and operating plant and machinery. To claim, a business must be registered for GST and fuel tax credits, and lodge the claim through its Business Activity Statement. Off-road use is generally worth more than on-road use.
